Wagner Barbosa (composer, guitarist, singer, songwriter)
I first learned of Wagner’s music from the 2009 artistShare project, “Agora,” by Dani Gurgel. Wagner was one of the “novos compositores” featured in the project. Since then, I’ve followed his career and found a sincere artist in deep self-discovery and development.
Graduating in 2004 with a degree in electrical engineering, Wagner took a detour to pursue his first love, Música Popular Brasileira. In 2005, he graduated from the Faculdade de Artes do Paraná, in his hometown of Curitiba, in the south of Brazil. In 2006, he moved to São Paulo to study at the famed Centro de Estudos Músicais where he graduated with honors.
In 2008, he released his debut CD, “Amanhecer,” along with his musical partner at the time, Paula Mirhan (a wonderful singer in her own right). He has performed with many of Brazil’s elite artists, including Conrado Paulino, Marcus Teixeira, and Michel Leme. Wager continues to perform around the world for receptive audiences.
